Social Counseling

Very often, illness or accidents represent a decisive point and a radical change in the life of an individual. They are frequently associated with problems which threaten the material security as well as the personal and professional future of the patient, thus causing fear and uncertainty. The social counsellors at Medical Park Bad Rodach help patients and their families in this situation.

They offer support in all social, financial and legal questions, regarding patients’ return to working life or in dealing with questions regarding their pension entitlements. In this, they work closely with the social services of the referring hospital in order to continue with the social measures already put in place. One of the most important aims is to ensure adequate care at home.

Our patients receive comprehensive advice on available medical aids. If necessary, the counsellors establish contact with peripatetic home care providers at the patient’s place of residence and provide information on self-help groups.

Living arrangements and work situation

In detail, rehabilitation counsellors have to deal with the following questions: what ambulatory aids does the patient need in order to return to his or her own home? Are modifications required? Are grants available? Is admission to a care home required? Does the patient require the prescription of aids and do they require adjustment?

Can the patient return to his or her place of work? What changes to the workplace would be required for his or her reintegration into the workplace? Is retraining required? Does the patient to need to retire from working life completely or only partially? What is the legal situation?

Has the patient been assessed for a recognised degree of disability or disadvantage compensation on account of his or her illness or disability in accordance with social security rules? Is the patient entitled to payments under social security rules or from his or her nursing care insurance? Do other social service providers need to be informed?

Have the patient and the patient's family members been informed about self-help groups? Will the patient receive social service care after his or her discharge?
In the interests of our patients, we try to clarify all of these questions.
