Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Horstmann, a native of Rhineland, took during his medical training in Freiburg a second degree in Science of Sports, and he used this period of time to complete his final year rotation in Freiburg, Zürich and Boston. After he did his doctorate in 1987, his chosen career led him in 1988 via a detour from Donaueschingen and Oberhausen finally to Tübingen. At the Department of Sports Medicine and at the Department of Orthopaedics of Tübingen University Hospital he received orthopaedic specialist education and training, and he completed his training in 1995 as board-certified Specialist in Orthopaedics.
