Sports Therapy
In sports therapy the use of the latest equipment supports improvement in coordination and movement. An important therapy for acquiring a normal gait after a stroke is locomotion therapy. In this therapy the patient walks with the help of the gait trainer or on a treadmill. At the same time they are secured with a belt and their weight is partially supported. The gait trainer and the treadmill make it possible to achieve a higher number of steps per unit of time. The therapist ensures that the quality characteristics of the physiological gait are maintained and supported. With the aid of the newly developed gait training robot Haptic Walker the patient who is still wheelchair-bound can also practise repeatedly climbing stairs.
Computer-based balance training is also available with changes in weight bearing. When the changes in weight bearing have been achieved, they are reported back by the computer. The patient immediately receives feedback. Training on equipment is also important for neurological patients. For this reason we have fitted modern training equipment for arm function training. The paralysed or weak arm is therefore prepared for use in everyday life.
