Dr Thomas Wessinghage
Dr Thomas Wessinghage hails from the Westphalian town of Hagen. After his studies and military service as medical officer in the Federal German Army, he worked as a junior doctor in various orthopaedic and surgical departments in Germany and in the USA. Following the award of his doctorate, his first post was to be in charge of a day hospital near Hamburg as Medical Specialist for Orthopaedics; he then became Medical Director, initially of a hospital in the Saarland, then in Schleswig-Holstein.
Dr Thomas Wessinghage is a lecturer in orthopaedics and biomechanics at the Technical College Kaiserslautern-Pirmasens as well as a lecturer in health education at the University of Flensburg. In addition, he holds a lectureship at the Christian Albrecht University in Kiel.
Dr Thomas Wessinghage became known to a wider public due to his numerous publications, seminars and talks. The main focus is on his insights in the areas of health, movement, running, motivation and diet which he gained as a physician and top athlete.
His scientific works include studies on the development of products in preventative medicine as well as on healthy movement as an essential prerequisite for the prevention of excess weight in children aged eleven and twelve.
